Quotes
A quote is a priced proposal written against a deal. Quotes in the Sales rail lists the saved ones with their status, which builder made them, the one-time and monthly totals, the margin, and when they last changed.
Three builders
Section titled “Three builders”New quote offers three, because one pricing model doesn’t fit everything:
- From the catalog — the general one. Pick products, set quantities, discount individual lines.
- Managed Services — a requirements-driven configurator. You describe the shape of the engagement and it prices it.
- SaaS subscription — priced by product line and term.
Which builder a quote used is shown in the list, and it’s a property of the quote rather than a mode you’re in — you can have all three kinds side by side.
The catalog
Section titled “The catalog”Settings → Products is what the catalog builder picks from. Each product has a SKU, a name, a category, a unit, a list price, and a charge type: one-time or recurring. Recurring products also carry a billing period.
That one-time/recurring split is why quotes have two totals. A quote that reads “$12,950 one-time and $2,480/month” is one deal with two very different shapes of money in it, and collapsing them into a single number is how proposals go wrong.
Unit cost is optional, and it’s what makes the margin column possible. Leave it empty and margin shows as a dash rather than a misleading 100%.
Settings → Pricing holds the scalars the two configurators run on — the rates and multipliers behind Managed Services and SaaS pricing, as distinct from the catalog itself.
Status
Section titled “Status”A quote moves through draft → sent → accepted / declined, and can expire. Set a valid until date and the quote says how long the price holds — which is the field customers rely on and salespeople forget.
Tying it to the deal
Section titled “Tying it to the deal”A quote can name its opportunity, its company and the contact it’s addressed to. Linked to an opportunity, the deal and the quote can be read together, which is the point of the two living in one module: a quote without the deal it’s for is a document nobody can evaluate.
Terms and notes
Section titled “Terms and notes”Term months sets the contract length the recurring total is quoted over, and the quote carries free-text terms and internal notes. Notes are yours; terms are the customer’s.
